Making Cheesecake Bites with Kids

My children have been cooking with me and Mr. H. since they were around 4 years old. Things such as stirring, pouring sugar, or take their time learning how to whisk eggs were always fun activities. We let them get messy and learn ways to control holding, stirring, patting, and more.  Therefore, it was no surprise when our daughter said that she wanted to make cheesecake bites.

Given that Mr. H. follows a gluten-free diet, this is a great recipe that the entire family can enjoy.  This is an easy to follow dessert that any child could help complete.

Cheesecake Bites

What you need:

  • A bowl
  • 2 eggs, room temperature
  • 16 oz. of cream cheese:  We used Philadelphia Cream Cheese.  Make sure that it’s room temperature.
  • ¾ C of sugar
  • 1 tblsp of vanilla extract
  • ½ tblsp of orange extract
  • Muffin tin and liners
  • A blender or you can hand blend (we’ve done both)


In a large bowl, empty 16 oz. of room temperature cream cheese and ¾ cup of sugar.  Mix until well blended.

Add the vanilla and orange extract and blend again. Next, add one egg and blend until it is mixed well with the other ingredients. Then, add the other egg and repeat the previous step.

When that is finished, line your muffin tin with cupcake liners.  At this point, you may place a graham cracker or vanilla wafer at the bottom of the liners. *We did not do this, but it is optional.

Next, fill the liners halfway with the cheesecake mixture.  Bake on 350 degrees for 15-18 minutes.

When the baking is complete, immediately place the muffin tin, filled with cheesecakes, into the refrigerator for 30-45 minutes. Decorate however you’d like. Finally, enjoy!
